Police investigate suspicious death in southwest Edmonton

Police are looking for video that may help the investigation of a suspicious death in southwest Edmonton, not far from the site of a deadly shooting one month ago.

In a Wednesday news release, police said officers responded to a report of an injured man at a residence in the neighborhood of Edgemont, near Erasmus Wynd and Erasmus Crescent.

Upon arrival, officers found a 41-year-old man dead in a front-attached garage at the scene, police added.

The man’s remains are scheduled for an autopsy on Thursday while Edmonton Police Service (EPS) homicide detectives continue to investigate this case.

Detectives are seeking dashcam video from drivers in the area of ​​Edgemont Way and Erasmus Wynd between 8 pm and 10 pm on Tuesday.

The scene of this latest suspicious death is not far from the Haddow neighborhood, where police responding to a weapons complaint on March 13 found notorious inner-city landlord Abdullah Shah (also known as Carmen Pervez) outside his home with life-threatening injuries.

Shah later died in hospital after suffering multiple gunshot wounds, which an autopsy determined to be the cause of death. Shah’s death was Edmonton’s ninth of 11 documented homicides in 2022.
