Peso appreciates slightly pending Bank of Mexico minutes

The Mexican peso moderately appreciated against the dollar this Thursday morning. The local currency advances, while traders await the publication of the minutes of the most recent meeting of the Bank of Mexico (Banxico).

The exchange rate it is located at the level of 20.1213 units. Compared to a record of 20.1682 units per greenback at its official closing yesterday, according to Banxico, the peso appreciates 4.69 cents, equivalent to 0.23 percent.

The cross operates in a limited range between a maximum of 20.1771 units and a minimum of 20.1000 units. The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the greenback against a basket of six reference currencies, fell -0.17% to 99.43 units.

The minutes of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) confirmed yesterday its intention to increase rates faster and with more aggressive movements. The market awaits Banxico’s position to reduce inflation.

Meanwhile, in the global arena, investors remain attentive to the war between Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has begun to demand an energy embargo by the European Union on Russia.
