Peso appreciates after private payroll data in the United States

The Mexican peso appreciates against American dollar this Thursday morning. The local currency recovers ground due to a weakening of the greenback, in a market that remains attentive to the figures of the US economy.

The exchange rate stands at 19.6011 units compared to the record of 19.6868 units from yesterday’s close of Bank of Mexico (Banxico). This means for the Mexican currency a gain of 8.57 cents or a variation of 0.44 percent.

The cross operates in a limited range between a maximum of 19.7261 units and a minimum of 19.5970 units. The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the greenback against a basket of six reference currencies, falls -0.40% and stands at 102.09 points.

The improvement in parity is observed early this day, after the publication in the United States of the ADP private sector employment survey for May, which showed the creation of 128,000 job positions.

The number weakened the greenback by falling considerably below the figure expected in the markets of 300,000, explained in a report Gabriela Siller, the director of Economic and Financial Analysis of the local Banco Base.

The exchange rate could remain in a range between 19.7200 units and a minimum of 19.5500 units per dollar during the rest of the session, according to the estimation of analysts from the local firm CI Banco.
