Pemex increases plans in Pokche priority field

One of the priority fields with which the federal government wants Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) reactivate the national extraction, Pokche, in shallow waters, will increase its production and activities in contrast to the original plans, as approved on Tuesday by the governing body of the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH).

The modification to the program raises the drilling and completion of four development wells, to recover 11.3 million barrels of oil and 22.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas.

To carry out these activities, a total cost of 387 million dollars is proposed, of which 317.24 million will be used for investments, 43.29 million for operating expenses and 26.2 million for other expenses.

The above, after the CNH authorized Pemex to modify the field’s transition program. Pokche is located within the AE-0151-M-Uchikil assignment, which is located in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico, in front of the state of Tabasco. The deposit has seven drilled wells, of which two are exploratory, four delimiters and one of development, from which volatile oil of 42 degrees API is extracted, that is, light oil.

In the proposal sent to the regulator, the state production company proposes to achieve a use of associated natural gas of 98 percent.

At the same time, the CNH authorized Pemex the drilling of the Chawila-2DEL Terrestrial Delimiting Well, located within Assignment AE-0385-4M-Soledad. The drilling of the Well aims to confirm the continuity of the deposit in the Tamabra formation in the Middle Cretaceous, in its northern portion, as well as to establish its horizontal and vertical limits.

Additionally, it is expected to demonstrate the commerciality of the project and give certainty to the estimated volume of hydrocarbons Light Oil type. The Resource to be reclassified is 35 MMboe. The chance of geological success is 35 percent.

The programs of Drilling and Well Completion contemplate a total of 97 days: 56 days for Drilling (from June 11 to August 5, 2022), and 41 days for Completion (from August 26 to October 5, 2022).
