The President of the Government appears today in the Congress of Deputies to report on the management of the pandemic and the state of alarm. During his speech, Pedro Sánchez announced a new item of 11,000 million euros for companies and freelancers.

“We not only want to save companies and jobs but to strengthen them and create new companies and jobs,” said Sánchez from the rostrum, explaining that this aid package seeks “reinforce the solvency of their balance sheets to make investments and contract workers to face economic recovery “.

The new € 11 billion will be used to “continue supporting sectors that grew before the pandemic and are now in a complex situation, such as the tourism sector, hospitality, catering or small businesses“.

The year of vaccination

The new aid package completes the more than 24,000 million euros that the Government has transferred to the autonomous communities during 2020 “so that they could cope with health and educational expenses“.

Sánchez has defended from the rostrum that the economic measures adopted by the Government to alleviate the crisis “are aligned or even higher than the average of the rest of the European Union”, something that “different international indicators” maintain.

In this sense, he highlighted the importance of flattening the contagion curve while trying to “modernize our economy” and has set 2021 as the year “of vaccination and economic recovery.”
