Payment of 10% of profits in Foundry of Nacozari-Esqueda avoids strike


Given that the mining sector exceeded the limits established for the payment of profits that are applied for the first time in fiscal year 2021, the National Mining Union of the Confederation of Workers of Mexico (CMT) opted for the negotiation with Grupo México to receive 10% profit sharing in its entirety, thus avoiding the strike scheduled for this May 18.

Javier Villarrealgeneral secretary of the union organization, explained that the ceiling on the payment of profits, which establishes applying the average of the last three years of salary or 90 days, depending on the most favorable for the worker, was left aside, since it exceeds by far the amount, “a good agreement was achieved, as in the case of Cananea where each worker received 700,000 pesos in profits.”

In that sense, he explained that with the signing of the Agreement, added to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCT) I know that the full payment of 10% of the 2021 profit sharing is guaranteed in this month of May; to which are added 12 points to the Agreement and new categories for the benefit of the workers, as well as the 7.5% increase in the salary table.

“With this type of agreement, it was possible to avoid a strike at the Grupo México Metallurgical Company (Foundry) in Nacozari, Sonora. address the Nonconformity Claim of the National Union of Workers of the Metallurgical Mining Industry CTM, Section 07 and if differences are found in the final amount of the Utilities, the company would comply with the additional payment immediately.

The National and Local leaders of the Union Javier Villarreal and Alonso Medrano, as well as the Commissioners and the Representatives of the Company signed the agreements to avoid the stoppage of activities.
