Quebec’s transport ministry said Monday that one of the bridge’s three eastbound lanes will be closed from 5 a.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Friday. The span connects Montreal Island with Vaudreuil-Dorion.

The closure is necessary to replace fixed concrete dividers in the center of the bridge with removable barriers that will allow for “dynamic traffic management” to be implemented when the next phase of construction begins in a few weeks.

Construction work will also require the nightly closure of two of three lanes in both directions, the transport ministry said. During these closures, trucks will be prohibited on the bridge. Marked tours will be in place.

Unfavorable weather conditions or operational constraints could require these closures to be postponed or extended until the removable slides have been completely installed, the transport ministry also said.
