A group from the Palestinian Solidarity Group at the University of Windsor and its supporters, hoping to raise awareness of the plight of “thousands of Palestinians” held without charge and influence Canadian government decision-making regarding Israel, met Saturday on the banks of the river.

Holding signs and waving flags on Ouellette Avenue and Riverside Drive, the group wanted to spread the word about their concerns.

Palestinian Solidarity Group spokeswoman Lana Yacoub said the protesters wanted to raise awareness especially about six Palestinian prisoners who are on hunger strike.

“They are not being held with any kind of justice,” Yacoub said. “I think Canada can do a lot at the federal level to help with this problem.”
