Two batters later, Jurickson Profar hit an RBI single that seemed to bounce off Doval’s foot, scoring Machado.

“It went well, that’s what I can share with you,” Melvin said before the game. “I’m glad I came back. It’s miserable being away. One (game) gives you a bit of perspective, which is actually pretty cool. More than that it is miserable. I’m glad I came back.”

PROFAR, FANS CAUSE DELAY

The game was briefly delayed after Profar picked on fans before the start of the third inning. Profar was warming up and pretended he was going to throw a ball into the outfield bleachers, then turned and threw it into the bleachers along the third-base line. Someone threw the ball back onto the field. At the same time, another ball was thrown onto the field, prompting crew chief Ted Barrett to walk over as Profar pointed to the stands. After a few moments, Barrett retrieved one ball and Profar grabbed the other as fans booed before play resumed.
