Outaouais: fire in a commercial building in L’Ange-Gardien

A commercial building was engulfed in flames in L’Ange-Gardien, in the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, late Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 5 p.m. in the building located on chemin des Bâtisseurs, near the intersection of routes 309 and 315, said a spokesperson for the Collines-de-l’Outaouais police department.

When the police arrived, firefighters from the L’Ange-Gardien Fire Department were already controlling the blaze, while firefighters from the municipality of Val-des-Monts were called to the rescue.

Due to the proximity of the burning building to the forest, the Society for the Protection of Forests against Fire (SOPFEU) immediately dispatched its teams to avoid any risk of the flames spreading to the forest.

At the time of the fire, no one was inside the building which suffered damage estimated at hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to Lieutenant Daniel Pariseau, who reported the opening of an investigation by firefighters on the exact circumstances of the fire.
