Ontario Reports 661 COVID-19 Cases, Highest Number of Cases in Last Month | The Canadian News

Ontario reported 661 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the total case count in the province to 606,507.

This is the highest case count for the last month.

The seven-day average has risen to 559 compared to last Saturday, where the average was 426.

Six more deaths were recorded on Saturday, bringing the provincial death toll to 9,927.

The Ministry of Health reported that of the 661 reported cases, 388 were among those who were not fully vaccinated or had an unknown vaccination status. The remaining 273 cases were reported among people who were fully vaccinated.

Health Minister Christine Elliot tweeted that 131 people are in ICU due to the virus. Of the 131 patients, 118 people are either not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status. The remaining 13 are fully vaccinated.

According to the latest provincial dataThere were 86 cases in Toronto, 54 in the York region, 49 in Ottawa and 43 in Windsor-Essex. All other public health units registered less than 30 cases.

In the last 24 hours, 26,456 tests were completed. The positivity of the test reached 2.4 percent. This is a slight decrease from Friday’s rate of 2.5 percent.

In Ontario, more than 11.5 million people of the eligible population (85.4%) 12 years and older are fully vaccinated. At least 88.7% of the eligible population has received at least one dose. More than 22.6 million doses have been administered since the vaccine launch began last year.

The province also reported that 469 cases were considered resolved on Saturday. The total of cases resolved in this province is registered in 591,994.
