TORONTO – Ontario’s cannabis regulator is cracking down on licensed marijuana stores that sell unregulated products.
The Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission says it recently learned that hemp-based products were being offered for sale at two cannabis stores in the southwestern region of the province.
AGCO spokesman Raymond Kahnert says the products had not been purchased from the province’s marijuana distributor, Ontario Cannabis Store.

Ontario marijuana shops can only sell cannabis and hemp products that they purchase from the OCS and must keep the items in their original packaging.
Kahnert says both retailers stopped selling these products immediately after arguing with AGCO compliance officers.
The incident prompted AGCO to send a letter to marijuana stores on Monday warning them that selling hemp or cannabis products that are not sourced from the OCS puts their retail licenses in jeopardy.
