A teenager is dead and two others are injured after a collision on a rural Alberta road Wednesday night.

Just after 8 pm, on May 4, Vermilion RCMP received a report of a vehicle that had rolled over on Township Road 512 near the hamlet of Islay, Alta., about 200 km east of Edmonton, Mounties said in a Monday news release.

Officers found one passenger, a 15-year-old Vermilion resident, dead at the scene. Two others, a 17-year-old resident of Two Hills County and a 15-year-old resident of Vermilion were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Mounties said officers remained on the scene for several hours and conducted an investigation with an RCMP collision analyst. They said the investigation is ongoing.
