One dead after side-by-side SUV collision in Laurentian Hills

A preliminary investigation indicated the UTV had rolled on a curve in the road, police said.

A 22-year-old Eganville man died following a side-to-side SUV collision in Laurentian Hills early Sunday morning.

At approximately 12:44 a.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment were called to a single-vehicle accident on Pergeon Lake Road. A preliminary investigation indicated the UTV had rolled on a curve in the road, police said.

Both the driver and passenger, who were ejected from the UTV, were taken to the hospital, where the passenger was pronounced dead. The 25-year-old driver from Laurentian Hills suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the OPP said in a news release Monday.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP officers continue to investigate with the assistance of OPP technical collision investigators and an OPP collision reconstructionist.

Laurentian Hills is located in Renfrew County, about 200 km northwest of Ottawa.
