Fire crews battled a fire caused by an explosion at an industrial facility in Two Hills County.
The RCMP and local emergency services responded to a fire at an oil tank farm north of Highway 640 Saturday night.
The fire, near Elk Point, was contained at the site and there were no reports of injuries. Police said no homes were threatened by the fire.
Highway 640 was closed in both directions to allow first responders and emergency crews to access the scene. In a tweet Saturday night, the RCMP advised against traveling in the area due to heavy smoke.
Postmedia contacted a Two Hills County official for information, but did not immediately receive a response.
The scene is about 220 km northeast of Edmonton.
