Kshama Bindu, 24, a digital creator from Vadodara, in western Gujarat state, made history on Saturday with India’s first self-marriage or sologamy wedding, according to a report which detailed the planning.

Bindu planned a three-day gala and wrote five vows, to read to herself. She also booked a two-week honeymoon to Goa. Imagine how confused everyone will be there when she arrives and says she is on her honeymoon!

“I just want to be a bride like most women, get ready, wear the best wedding outfit and be photographed, but I don’t want to be a wife. And so, I am marrying myself,” Bindu told The National.

“I want to give all the love in my heart to myself. I might fall in love with myself even more,” she said.

“I never thought that it would be a big deal but I want people to understand that one can be single and be happy. With my marriage, I want them to look at the positive sides of self-love and accept the concept of marrying self,” she said.

Elvis fans looking to get hitched quickly in Las Vegas got some bad news recently.

Authentic Brands Group, the licensing company that controls the name and image of Elvis Presley, sent cease-and-desist letters in early May to multiple Las Vegas chapels about using his likeness during ceremonies, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported last week.

Las Vegas makes a ton of money off wedding ceremonies, and the Elvis-themed ones are very popular, so this could leave the industry all shook up.

“We are a family-run business, and now we’re hanging with the big dogs,” said Kayla Collins, who operates LasVegasElvisWeddingChapel.com and the Little Chapel of Hearts with her husband. “That’s our bread and butter. I don’t get it. We were just hitting our stride again through COVID, then this happens.”

The report said a chapel recently made its Elvis impersonator change into a leather jacket, jeans and a fedora for a “rock ‘n’ roll” themed ceremony.

Graceland Wedding Chapel, which performs 6,400 Elvis-themed weddings per year, has not been served a warning yet, according to manager Rod Musum.

In the cease-and-desist letter, the company said it will halt unauthorized use of “Presley’s name, likeness, voice image, and other elements of Elvis Presley’s persona in advertisements, merchandise and otherwise.” The letter also said “Elvis,” “Elvis Presley,” “and “The King of Rock and Roll” are protected trademarks.

In a statement Wednesday, Authentic Brands Group said it has strong relationships with Elvis tribute artists and fan festivals. There is “no intention to shut down chapels that offer Elvis packages in Las Vegas.”

“We are seeking to partner with each of these small businesses to ensure that their use of Elvis’ name, image and likeness are officially licensed and authorized by the estate, so they can continue their operations,” Authentic Brands Group said. “Elvis is embedded in the fabric of Las Vegas history.”

Talk about a sibling rivalry.

A Utah woman allegedly bit her sister’s eye while drunk recently.

KSLTV.com reported court documents said Ashleigh Mason, 26, grabbed her sister’s hair, pulled her in, and bit her left eye, causing part of the eye to be ripped out while they fought in a car.

Police said that Mason fled about a block and hid in a yard but was “extremely intoxicated” and yelling loudly.

We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

They say she drank a couple of bottles of vodka and a White Claw. That will do it.

The report said police believed the tear duct of the woman was ripped out.

Mason was sent to jail and charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, and intoxication.

A well-known restaurant chain that pioneered franchising is no more.

The last Howard Johnson’s in the United States closed recently.

It was open for most of the past 70 years in Lake George, NY, a popular summer vacation spot near the Adirondack Mountains. It has now closed and is up for lease according to a TV station.

There were eleven around 1,000 Howard Johnsons in the US in the 1960s and 1970s. It was actually the country’s biggest restaurant chain, the first chain to be franchised and each location had an orange roof.

But the rise of fast-food chains like McDonald’s and Burger King decimated Howard Johnson, which was bought by Marriott in 1985.

By the 2000s very few locations remained, though the hotel chain is still around and is owned by Wyndham.
