According to the results of the New Edition National Employment Survey, of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), our entity ended 2021 with an occupancy rate of the economically active population (PEA) of 98.8 percent.

“The economic reactivation of Oaxaca is a reality. We are the state with the highest employment rate as, despite the problems of the pandemic, thanks to dedicated work and good coordination with the three levels of government, we have even managed to exceed the indicators obtained in August 2020, where a labor force of 97.4% “, said Governor Alejandro Murat Hinojosa.

According to the Inegi, employment in the entity is divided as follows: 50 percent of the PEA is devoted to tertiary activities (services), 30 percent to the agricultural sector and 20 percent to the secondary sector.

It should be noted that Oaxaca was one of the first entities in the country to take actions to reduce the negative impact of Covid-19 on MSMEs, through the “Program of Incentives and Support for the Economic Stability of Oaxaca”. 12,000 productive grants have been awarded to more than a thousand MSMEs. While, through the Development Trust for the State of Oaxaca (BanOaxaca), credits have been placed for more than 267 million pesos, for 1,539 MiPYMEs.

These timely measures favored the continuity of operations of the companies, which contributed to Oaxaca being the entity in the country with the highest growth in annual terms during the last quarter of 2020, with an increase of 3.1%, according to Inegi figures.
