‘Numerous officers on scene’: Police respond to reported stabbing at Mississauga school

Peel Regional Police are investigating after a stabbing was reported at a school in Mississauga on Tuesday, April 26.

Officers as well as Peel Paramedics were dispatched to the area of Mavis Road and Courtneypark Drive at 12:22 pm following reports of a victim being stabbed on school property.

Police said the victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while a second victim approached paramedics and was assessed on scene.

As a result of the incident, police placed St. Marcellinus Secondary School under a lockdown while a hold and secure was issued for Mississauga Secondary School.

Both the lockdown and hold and secure have since been lifted.

A lockdown is issued by police when the threat is believed to be inside the school. Under this order, the interior doors of the school are locked wherever possible and students and teachers are told to remain in their classrooms.

Under a hold and secure, the exterior doors to the school are locked to prevent anyone from entering the building, but staff and students inside the school can operate normally.
