Nuevo León’s budget for next year amounts to 117,745 million pesos

Monterrey, NL. The Secretary of Finance and general treasurer of the state, Carlos Garza Ibarra, indicated that a preliminary budget for 2022 has been contemplated, for 117,745 million pesos, which represents an increase of 5% compared to the previous year. The budget includes a significant increase in safety, mobility and early childhood.

During a meeting in the Treasury, the official presented to deputies of the Budget Commission of the state Congress and representatives of the Nuevo León Council for Strategic Planning, the state executive’s budget proposal for 2022.

The idea is to be able to present the fiscal package no later than next Saturday, November 20, because that is what the law establishes, and to include the concerns of the local deputies, ”said the official.

He assured that among the projects that they see feasible to start in 2022, are lines 4 and 5 of the metro. “What we are asking Congress for next year is to invest 2.6 billion pesos in both projects and proration is being made for the next few years,” because it is intended to conclude these works in the six-year term.

Taxes

As for the green tax on companies that pollute and do not invest in improving the environment, Garza Ibarra estimated that around 316 million pesos would be collected, which do not have a specific purpose, but would be focused on environmental issues, as well as in tree reforestation to which between 50 and 60 million pesos would be allocated.

Regarding the tax reform regarding Casinos, he explained that there are two specific actions. On the one hand, a right per machine will be established, “something that exists in other states”, with 300 UMA (Unit of Measurement and Update), each UMA is equivalent to 89.62 pesos per day in 2021.

As well as increasing the tax on Expenditures and Gambling from 10% to 15 percent. These two items would represent 565 million pesos as potential collection, the official said.

Safety, Health and Education

The Secretaries of Health and Education will be reduced 400 million pesos to each agency, in non-essential things, however, he clarified that this decrease does not include personal services, “the operation of the Health and Education sector is guaranteed,” he emphasized.

“In the field of Public Security we bring a growth of a little more than 1,500 million pesos, a good part has to do with personal services resources for the hiring of more police officers, as well as equipment, technology, investment, systems, everything it has to do with a much more robust security strategy ”, he specified.

For her part, the president of the Nuevo León Congress, Ivonne Álvarez, expressed that the Legislature highly values ​​the prior presentation of the budget proposal for 2022 and the proposals that were made around issues that benefit Nuevo León society.

“We are interested in what the people are interested in, including the demands that citizens have requested (and are reflected) in this budget,” he mentioned.
