RCMP in Nova Scotia is investigating a Halloween party in Pictou that allegedly ended in a shooting, breaking and entering and stabbing.

Police said they were alerted at 3:11 a.m. Sunday to a report of a shooting on Veterans Drive.

They said a 22-year-old man from New Glasgow shot a woman outside the house where the party was taking place.

“The woman was not injured and ran in, closing the door,” RCMP said in a news release.

“The suspect broke a door window to gain access to the house and stabbed a person inside before being approached by people at the meeting.”

Police said the suspect suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.

“The stabbing victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, was treated by EHS and released,” the RCMP noted.

RCMP said this was not a random incident and there are no further threats to the public.
