The RCMP in Barrington, NS, charged a Halifax man with allegedly committing sex crimes against two young men.

In a statement, police say they received a report that two young men in the Barrington area had been lured “for a sexual purpose by a man.”

“The police launched an investigation and determined that both young people had been attracted to the man to have sex through a social media platform,” he said. “The man made arrangements with the youth to pick them up and then took them to a property where he sexually assaulted them.”

The statement said officers determined the suspect was a 28-year-old man from Halifax and contacted him with the help of the Halifax Regional Police. The man turned himself in on November 17.

Kane Story Buchanan of Halifax has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual contact. He was placed on remand and will appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on Friday for a bail hearing.

The RCMP says the investigation is ongoing.
