Nine people were arrested for the collapse of a building in Changsha, China


The police announced on Sunday the arrest of nine people for the collapse of a building in the city of changshacenter Chinawhere rescuers search through the rubble for survivors.

Five people were rescued after the collapse that occurred on Friday, but at least 18 are still trapped in the rubble and another 39 have not been located, said the city’s mayor, Zheng Jiangxin.

At the moment there has been no information deathly victims.

Changsha police announced on social media that the owner of the building and three responsible for its design and construction were detained on Sunday, suspected of being “responsible for an accident.”

Five other people, all of them members of a private building inspection company, “provided a false security report after conducting a building security audit at the hotel,” according to the statement posted on Chinese social media Weibo.

The building, which included a hotel, cinema and apartments, collapsed on Friday afternoon, leaving a gaping hole in the dense urban landscape.
