Nike wants to sell tennis in the metaverse; buys digital fashion startup RTFKT

The manufacturer of sportswear and shoes Nike bought the digital fashion startup RTFKT, a display of his ambitions in the metaverse, this parallel universe that is sometimes described as the future of the internet.

The amount of this operation announced Monday night was not disclosed.

Founded in 2020, RTFKT specializes in the manufacture of virtual products, particularly sports shoes, and uses blockchain technology to ensure the security and authenticity of purchases.

The company also uses augmented reality and artificial intelligence to develop your products.

“Nike is the only brand in the world that shares our passion for innovation, creativity and community spirit,” said Benoît Pagotto, one of the co-founders of RTFKT, in a statement.

Nike has been making progress in this sector for several weeks.
