NHL postpones three Calgary Flames games, including Thursday against Maple Leafs, due to COVID

The next three Calgary Flames games have been postponed, including Thursday’s game with the Maple Leafs, because six Calgary players and one staff member entered COVID-19 protocols in a 24-hour period.

The NHL said it is in the process of rescheduling games Monday in Chicago against the Blackhawks, Tuesday in Nashville against the Predators and Thursday in Calgary against the Leafs.

The Flames announced Monday morning that forwards Elias Lindholm, Andrew Mangiapane, Brad Richardson and Adam Ruzicka and defenders Chris Tanev and Nikita Zadorov were on protocol.

The Flames are the third NHL team to postpone games this season. Last month, the Ottawa Senators postponed three games and the New York Islanders postponed two games.

The league said in a statement that the games were postponed due to concerns about the continued spread and the likelihood of additional positive cases.

The Flames training facilities have been closed until further notice.

The NHL has postponed the next three Calgary Flames games because six unidentified players have entered COVID protocols.
