NHL Extends Gaming Pause Until Dec. 28 Due To COVID-19 Cases | The Canadian News

The NHL extended its vacation for one more day as its teams continue to grapple with widespread COVID-19 cases.

The league announced Friday night that the 14 games originally scheduled for Monday would be postponed and that play would resume on Tuesday, December 28.

His original Christmas break was scheduled for December 24 and 26, but with several teams closing due to COVID-19 outbreaks this month, the league and the NHL Players Association agreed to pause the schedule two days earlier. Now, the league-wide hiatus is on the books for six consecutive days, Dec. 22-27.

“The League had planned to resume its schedule on December 27, but to allow the League an adequate opportunity to analyze the test results across the League and assess the Clubs’ readiness to play, the deadline for the resumption of the game will be delayed one more day, ”the NHL said in a statement Friday.

“The teams will return to practice on December 26 and the League is expected to provide an update on their return-to-play plans by the end of the day on Sunday.”

Four NHL games are scheduled for Tuesday night: Montreal in Tampa Bay, Columbus in Chicago, Vegas in Los Angeles and Arizona in San Jose, with 11 games scheduled for Wednesday.
