New Brunswick Completes Launch of COVID-19 Booster Vaccine in Nursing Homes – New Brunswick | The Canadian News

Health officials in New Brunswick say they have given booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine to all nursing home residents in the province.

Authorities also say that 82 percent of nursing home residents have currently received a booster dose and will complete that launch by the end of the month.

Medical Director Dr. Jennifer Russell says third injections of the vaccine will reduce the risk of the disease spreading among vulnerable residents in care facilities.

The news came as New Brunswick reported 52 new COVID-19 cases and 33 recoveries.

The total active case count in the province is now 523, including 16 people in the hospital and 10 in intensive care.

The total vaccination rate in the province is now just over 86 percent, and nearly 93 percent of eligible New Brunswick residents have received at least one dose.
