QUEBEC — The National Assembly on Tuesday honored violinist Angèle Dubeau and the 25th anniversary of her string ensemble La Pietà.
In 1997, Dubeau founded the all-women ensemble. Since then, it has performed on stages across the world and recorded several albums.
Liberal MNA Christine St-Pierre presented a motion to highlight the ensemble’s contribution and the career of Dubeau, who was present in the gallery. The motion also noted that Dubeau made classical music accessible to a larger audience and represented Quebec internationally with her violin and the ensemble she created.
Dubeau also received the National Assembly medal.
