Name of Windsor Police Charged in Homicide Investigation

Windsor police named the man charged with first-degree murder following a homicide in the city last week.

Around 4 a.m., officers responded to a multi-vehicle accident reported Thursday in the University Avenue West and Dougall Avenue area.

The driver of a gray Dodge Journey involved identified as a 44-year-old man had injuries and was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim’s cause of death has yet to be determined pending autopsy results.

Investigators determined that the man had been in an altercation with another man prior to the accident. They were able to identify the second man, a suspect, and arrested him shortly before 8 a.m. Friday.

Abdishakur Harun, 33, of Windsor, is charged with first degree murder, firing a firearm with the intent to injure or endanger life, pointing a firearm, and possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
