The notorious inner-city Edmonton landlord died in hospital early Monday morning after being shot outside his home in the Haddow neighborhood late Sunday night.

An Edmonton Police Service (EPS) news release said officers responded to a weapons complaint just before 10 pm when they found Shah suffering from life-threatening injuries at his home near Heath Road and Riverbend Road.

Edmonton police investigators believe a suspect car was waiting a short distance east on Haddow Crescent prior to the shooting and previously asked anyone who may have seen it, or have video of the vehicle, to come forward.

In a Friday news release, police thanked the public for their response and detectives now have more information regarding the direction of travel of the suspect vehicle, which is described as a gray SUV that was believed to be traveling east on Heath Road at 9:06 p.m

Police said they are looking for any dashcam or residential CCTV footage of the suspect vehicle driving in either direction on the Heath Road loop, including Riverbend Road between the two entrances of Heath Road, between 9 pm and 9:10 pm last Sunday.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect vehicle is asked to contact EPS.

Shah survived being shot in the head in August and was a well-known crime figure in the city, having been sentenced to five years in prison in 2018 for his role in a mortgage fraud scheme. He was also handed a 15-month conditional sentence for pressing associates in the Edmonton Remand Center to carry out a “hit” on a former employee.
