Motorist loses control of vehicle in fatal accident in the Montérégie

A driver in his 30s died Sunday morning in the Montérégie region after losing control of his vehicle and leaving the road about 10 kilometers west of Granby in St-Paul-d’Abbotsford.

The incident took place on Route 235 around 9 am The victim, a resident of Ange-Gardien, was alone in his vehicle and the Jaws of Life were needed to extricate him, according to the Sûreté du Québec.

When first responders arrived, the driver was unconscious and in critical condition. He was transported to hospital, where he died of his injuries later that morning.

An SQ patroller specialized in collision investigation was assigned to shed light on the causes and circumstances of the incident. The SQ said, for now, it is “ruling out no hypotheses.”
