La Sûreté du Québec said the incident occurred around 1:30 am. The driver of a truck with a trailer stopped at the foot of a steep hill on Highway 323 after colliding with something in the roadway.

The driver discovered that he had run over a motorcyclist lying on the road. Police believe the motorcyclist had already fallen off his bike at the bottom of the hill before the truck arrived.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The police have little information about the victim. He was riding someone else’s motorcycle, which police say has complicated the identification process.

Highway 323 was closed to traffic early Friday while the investigation continued.
