Mother Nature gives farmers no respite

After suffering repeated periods of drought, farmers in Bas-Saint-Laurent are now faced with heavy rains.

Since the beginning of June, the Rimouski region has absorbed between 125 and 150 mm of rain, while the average is usually 82 mm.

Agricultural producers will therefore have to resign themselves to buying grain to feed livestock, but the Russian invasion of Ukraine has pushed up the price of grain.

Thus, producers will have to be patient while more precipitation is expected by the end of the week.
