Morocco closes its borders again due to the Omicron variant

Morocco will close its borders again as of December 23 after having detected a case of the Omicron variant in its territory, according to the authorities.

“This first case of contagion by the new Omicron variant was detected in a Moroccan citizen whose state of health is stable and is not worrying,” said the Ministry of Health.

As of December 23, passenger flights to the kingdom will once again be banned, according to the pandemic monitoring committee.

A decision made due to “the rapid spread of the Omicron variant throughout the world and its worrying progression in Morocco’s European neighborhood,” according to the inter-ministerial monitoring committee Covid.

On Monday, Morocco had announced the partial lifting of the air lockdown, launched on November 29.
