More than 5,000 Hydro-Québec customers still without power

Some 5,167 homes were still plunged into darkness on Friday morning, due to power outages caused by violent storms that swept through southern and central Quebec the day before.

The majority of outages were recorded in the Laurentians and Montérégie, while 2,759 and 1,585 customers respectively have not yet been reconnected to the Hydro-Québec network.

In Lanaudière, some 160 families were deprived of electricity, according to the state company, which specifies that seven outages affected 86 of its customers in the Montreal region.

A total of 155 power outages, including 81 blackouts in Montérégie, have not yet been restored on Friday morning, according to the latest Hydro-Québec report updated at 5:30 a.m.
