Montreal: two 25-year-old men attacked with stabbing

Two 25-year-old men were stabbed in downtown Montreal overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday.

An altercation between several people in a bar reportedly degenerated around 1:15 a.m. before continuing outside near the intersection of Guy and Sainte-Catherine Streets West.

During the altercation, the two victims were injured in the lower body, said Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

Upon their arrival at the scene, the police arrested a suspect, a 26-year-old man, who was to be met by SPVM investigators during the night.

A stabbing weapon was found on the spot, according to the police spokesperson who specifies that the two victims are no longer in danger.

Guy Street was closed between Sainte-Catherine Street West and René-Lévesque Boulevard West by a security perimeter to allow investigators to analyze the scene.
