Montreal police suspect car was deliberately torched in city’s north end


Firefighters extinguished a blaze at a car parked on Letellier St. near De Salaberry St. and police arrived soon afterward.

A fire early Tuesday that investigators suspect was deliberately set and destroyed a car parked on a street in the city’s north-end is under investigation by the Montreal police arson squad.

As of Tuesday morning no arrests had been made and no injuries reported.

The fire was reported to the 911 emergency center around 2 am Firefighters extinguished a blaze at a car parked on Letellier St. near De Salaberry St. and police arrived soon afterward. The vehicle was considered a total loss.

A preliminary investigation found no evidence of an incendiary device being used to start the fire, however the suspicion that the blaze had been intentionally set led to the investigation being assigned to the arson squad.
