“The Montreal police are aware of a video circulating on social media relating to a police intervention,” the police force stated on Twitter. “In order to shed light on the situation, the video is currently being analyzed to find out the detailed circumstances surrounding the event.”

Later on Friday, the police force tweeted that it will conduct “an investigation into this event. It will be entrusted to the “Integrity and Professional Standards Department.”

The video recorded two Montreal police officers interacting with two people in an alley, reported to be in Chinatown. While one person appears to be sleeping near garbage, another man is pushed by a police officer. The man is seen in the video stumbling before he trips and falls into a concrete block. The same police officer picks up the man and shoves him a second time as a vehicle passes close by him.
