At least 34 people were killed in India after a landslide collapsed in India, triggered by the heavy monsoon rains underway in Bombay. In Chembur, in the eastern suburbs, an uprooted tree fell on a wall which buried several homes and 21 bodies were recovered from the rubble.
The city of Mumbai has been hit by torrential rains since Saturday, and local transport services have been affected. The rain also flooded a water purification complex, disrupting the supply “in most areas of Bombay”.
