Mixed start of the futures market in the last week of 2021

The futures operations of the main Wall Street indices began to rise this Sunday, while the Mexican currency depreciated slightly and oil prices began to operate at a loss.

The Dow Jones mini index registered a 0.11% increase at 6:00 in the afternoon, Mexico City time, at a level of 35,871 points, while the technological NASDAQ 100 mini had a yield of 0.27% and was placed in 16,342.75 units. Finally, the S&P 500 mini index stood at 4,723.50 integers with an increase of 0.16 percent.

In addition, the New York market indices ended the week of December 24 higher, following the volatility of the market due to the concerns of the Omicron variant and few operations due to the holidays. The Dow Jones closed up 1.65%, followed by the S&P 500 with a gain of 2.28% and the NASDAQ with a return of 3.19% for the week.

Meanwhile, the exchange rate started at a level of 20.6303 pesos per dollar, which means a slight depreciation of 1.46 cents or 0.07% compared to the closing of 20.6157 pesos per dollar last Friday at Banco de México (Banxico).

During the week, the Mexican currency ended with an appreciation of 0.82%, accumulating four consecutive weeks of gains, a 5.69% advantage against the US dollar and is emerging to end the month with a 3.90% appreciation.

On the other hand, oil prices started the day lower, the benchmark Brent from the North Sea is sold at 76.11 dollars per barrel, with a 0.54% loss this Sunday, although it ended the week with a 3.56 percent gain .

The West Texas Intermediate (WTI), which ended the week with a gain of 4.13%, began its operations on Sunday at a level of 73.35 dollars per unit, with a 0.47% decrease.

The Mexican export mix is ​​sold, until last Thursday, at a price of 68.57 dollars per barrel, and ended with a weekly gain of 4.30%, according to data from Petróleos Mexicanos.

In Asia, the stock markets started with slight losses, in Japan, the Nikkei 225 index started with a 0.28% drop at a level of 28,721 points. While the South Korean stock market, Kospi, started at 3,009.89 integers with a slight decrease of 0.09 percent. The exchanges will have little operation, few buyers and few sellers, although a little volatility in the market is not ruled out for the end of this year.
