Ministry of Tourism declares the promotion tender in the US, Canada and Belize void


The Ministry of Tourism declared void the tender to choose the company that provides the comprehensive service for the execution of the tourism promotion programs Operation knocks on doors and Reunion with my roots in Washington, Belize, Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto, which is planned to be carried out between May and next October.

According to the ruling, dated April 21, the only bidder, Global Publishing Strategies, did not deliver its documentation with the e-signature issued by the Tax Administration Service (SAT) and it was discarded.

His economic offer was for a total of three million 339,756 pesos, an amount that was 52.9% below the maximum estimated for contracting (7 million 100,000 pesos).

As the company did not comply with all the requirements of the technical part, it was determined not solvent and the tender was declared void.

The agency’s decision was relevant, since it is not the first time that Global Publishing Strategies (public relations, marketing and specialized representation company, based in Mexico City) participates in one of its contests: in 2019 it offered similar services for tours in China and in 2020 for meetings in five cities in the United States.

What will happen to the tours?

After the impact caused by the Covid-19 pandemic on tourism, the Mexican government seeks to resume its tourism promotion strategies (even this Friday the first International Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos began in Barcelona).

After declaring the tender void, the Ministry of Tourism has the possibility of launching a second call or making a direct award, by virtue of little time for the chosen company to meet the requirements.
