Gautier MignotAmbassador of the European Union in Mexico, met this Thursday with the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Arturo Zaldivar Lelo de Larrea.
Although it was not specified if the subject was addressed, the meeting was framed by the recent and constant criticism made by the president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorto European deputies for having approved an agreement condemning the growing wave of murders of journalists in our country, and the campaign of accusations by the federal government against the communicators’ union.
On his Twitter account, Ambassador Gautier Mignot published two photographs with the minister Arturo Zaldivarafter their meeting.
“A very interesting and fruitful meeting with the Minister President of the SCJN talking about the challenges and achievements of the Mexican judicial system and how the EU can usefully contribute to its development and the strengthening of relations with Europe”, he highlighted.

Previously, the Ambassador stated that “the important thing is to stop the attacks and murders against journalists and consolidate freedom of expression. What we Europeans want is to be useful in supporting Mexico in this essential task”.
