The Mayor Miguel Hidalgo presented this Tuesday the Guidelines for “Live Miguel Hidalgo, Live Polanco”, with which it seeks to put order in public space and guarantee a harmonious relationship between restaurateurs, neighbors and pedestrians.

In addition, it will begin with a voluntary review campaign of the restaurants so that the owners know first-hand what documents they must update.

Regarding the Coexistence Program, Miguel Hidalgo indicated that it is developed in two aspects.

He explained that joining Convive Miguel Hidalgo will allow them to streamline administrative processes and be able to have guidance from the mayor’s office regarding the measures to operate properly, which is why the opening of a Special Window was announced to give attention to this sector.

“We recognize the value they have and that they know that for this government, certainty, clarity in dealing with the industry is a basic premise, we want them to have that security,” he added.

For her part, Martha Malazzo, president of Canirac in Miguel Hidalgo, affirmed that these actions guarantee direct communication between the establishments and the Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office to maintain safe activation, within a framework of respect for all.

In addition, he reiterated his commitment to continue working, abiding by the guidelines, in favor of the families that depend on this sector and for the benefit of the mayor’s office and the City.

“In the restaurant industry we are committed to maintaining a safe reactivation in which healthy coexistence is privileged among pedestrians, the inhabitants of the area and the customers of our establishments,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rafael Olmos, president of BID Polanco, expressed the need for the Outdoor City Program to remain as the new wave of infections is again affecting sales in the restaurant sector.

In addition, to occupy a space on the street, the belongings that are placed will consist only of chairs, tables -with a distance of 1.5 meters between diners- umbrellas or any easily removable installation that is not fixed.

As for businesses that already have terraces or open spaces that are not contemplated in their operating permit, priority should be given to the placement of belongings in these areas and in their own and outdoor parking lots.

The guidelines also indicate that restaurants may use the parking space in the space in front of the front of the establishment and if it is located on a road that does not have a lane with a parking strip, it may occupy the lane adjacent to its sidewalk.

Meanwhile, for the use of the sidewalks they will be allowed to place belongings, as long as they maintain at least two meters wide of pedestrian path for the free passage of people.

Regarding the prohibitions, no establishment may place equipment in the vehicular stream of controlled access roads, bicycle lanes, cycle lanes, exclusive lanes for the circulation of public transport, drawers for people with disabilities, emergency bays, Siamese outlets, bus stops or green areas, or in the corners.

Smoking will also be prohibited in the outdoor expansion areas and use of antibacterial gel containing 70 percent alcohol should be used to sanitize diners.

Finally, all establishments that adhere to the guidelines must comply as a first step with their enrollment in the Open Air City Program.
