The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is increasing capacity for COVID-19 vaccines in January, as residents age 50 and over are eligible for a third dose starting Monday.

Local health officials have announced plans to reopen a vaccination clinic at Earl Nichols Recreation Center next month. The facility, which stopped operating in early September, will begin offering vaccines on January 6, 2022. The center will operate Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. M. At 5 p. M.

The health unit will also increase the number of days that its COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be operational at the Caradoc Community Center. Beginning January 4, the clinic location in Mount Brydges will provide doses of the COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. M. At 6 p. M.

The province announced Friday that all Ontario residents age 18 and older will be eligible to receive a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine beginning January 4.

“Demand for the COVID-19 vaccine remains high, so with the expanded eligibility for the booster dose that the province announced late last week and with children under the age of 12 who will soon be able to receive their second dose , the need for increased clinical capacity was clear, ”said Dr. Alex Summers, Acting Medical Health Officer.
