Merkel’s successor, in favor of mandatory vaccination

Berlin The future German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, affirmed yesterday, November 30, to be in favor of mandatory vaccination against Covid-19 to stop the new wave of the pandemic, his collaborators reported.

Scholz “says he feels that there is debate on the issue among the deputies,” explained his surroundings, and “indicated that he would welcome this rule”, during a meeting between the outgoing Chancellor, Angela Merkel, and the leaders of 16 German regions, that could end with an increase in sanitary restrictions.

They affirm that the main impacted by the return of the restrictions would be the bars and clubs.

Germany so far avoided the option of imposing vaccination, which its neighbor Austria does apply, and which now has the approval of two-thirds of Germans, according to a poll by the RTL and ntv media.

This measure should be approved by the German parliament.

However, the obligation was recently voted for staff in retirement homes and hospitals, as well as Army soldiers. The measure will be effective shortly.

The health situation is very tense, with an incidence rate, yesterday, of 452.2 per 100,000 inhabitants. 68.5% of Germans have the complete vaccination schedule, about 57 million people.
