A minority did not respect the rules, he said during a press briefing given in front of the town hall around 6 p.m.

The work of the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) and Quebec City employees has been “colossal”, according to him, to avoid slippages.

“I want to highlight the work of the police,” testified the mayor shortly after the last trucks left René-Lévesque Boulevard.

In anticipation of a possible return of the demonstrators in two weeks, who wish to come in greater numbers this time, Mr. Marchand says he wants to adapt and not allow “unacceptable deviations”.

The mayor also said he was satisfied with the weekend of Carnival festivities, which will continue until February 13.

An SPVQ press briefing will take place shortly to take stock of the weekend.
