Mel Gibson has confirmed that will direct and star in ‘Lethal Weapon 5’, the fifth installment of the action saga in which, together with Danny GloverThey step into the shoes of two Los Angeles police officers. The new movie will start shooting next year, 23 years later after the premiere of the latest installment.
This Saturday, on the interview website ‘An Experience With‘, the 65-year-old actor has confirmed that the late director Richard Donner -who passed away on July 5- asked him to take over the franchise if he died. And so it will be. Gibson explained that Donner, who directed all of the Lethal Weapon films, had been “writing a script” and had even “made a lot of progress on it,” according to The Sun newspaper. “AND [Donner] He said to me one day, ‘Listen, boy, if I kick the bucket, you will.’ And I said, ‘Shut up.’ But he did indeed pass away. He asked me to do it and at that moment I didn’t say anything. He told his wife and the studio and the producer. So I’ll direct the fifth [entrega]”, explains the Australian in the interview.
