Maternity leave: Which countries guarantee this right in America?

The legislative actions that seek to extend the days of leave for mothers and pregnant people in this country have slowed down their momentum and are frozen in both chambers of the Union Congress. Currently there are 12 weeks of leave, the ILO recommends a minimum of 14 weeks.

The countries of the American continent that have the longest maternity leaves are Venezuela, Chile, Brazil, El Salvador and Canada.

According to Unicef, “maternity protection is a human right and an essential element of comprehensive work and family policies.”
