Marcelo Ebrard says that the SRE met its objectives in 2021

The Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard, assured that 2021 was a good year for the Mexican Foreign Ministry by complying with the mandates and presenting good progress such as obtaining vaccines to counter the Covid-19 pandemic and triggering the bilateral relationship with the Joe Biden administration.

“We made good progress, we were tasked with obtaining the vaccine contracts, ensuring that they reached our country and fortunately it was achieved. We are about to reach 200 million doses, as signed in October 2020, that has been the primary occupation, the main occupation of the Foreign Ministry this year, “he told the media.

The second question, at the request of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, was to establish a good relationship with the new government of U.S.

“There were those who had the impression, perhaps others the desire, that there would be a disagreement with the new administration. This did not happen, on the contrary, we have a very good relationship with the United States, perhaps it is one of the best moments we have had so far this century, “he said.

“I believe that for all this we had a good year and we hope that 2022 will be as well,” he added.

He listed that among the challenges of the next one are: accelerating investments in Mexico, boost relations with the United States, increase productivity in North America and, in general, move towards greater integration throughout the Americas.

“That will be a challenge for the coming year and we are prepared to face it,” he said.

He also stressed that Mexico will continue the lawsuit process in the United States against arms trafficking and will continue to cooperate in investigations with the Immediate Action Group to combat human trafficking networks, a business that leaves at least 14,000 million dollars a year.
