The Manitoba Conservative Party says the Fort Whyte Equestrian nomination process is officially underway.

So far, only businessman and former Winnipeg Blue Bomber Obby Khan has announced his candidacy for the job that became vacant following the resignation of Brian Pallister.

The riding of Fort Whyte has produced two Conservative leaders, with Pallister following former PC leader Hugh McFayden in 2012.

Candidates can now officially begin campaigning in the area with speeches broadcast live beginning Thursday, February 10, and in-person voting airing the next two days.

The winner will be announced on February 12 and Premier Heather Stefanson says she is confident “Fort Whyte residents will have a strong voice in our Caucus.”
