Management of the site for the summer of 2022: Le Malin denies having refused the committee’s offer

Michel and David Bourdages, at the head of the company Le Malin de la Rivière Bonaventure, did not respond to interview requests from Radio-Canada. However, in a press release, they claim to have accepted out loud the committee’s proposal at a meeting held on March 15.

It was impossible for Radio-Canada to validate the provisions of the proposal to which the company refers.

For reasons unknown to us, we never received the details of this proposal, which was a real solution. The participants in this meeting can attest to this. »

A group made up of ZEC de la Rivière Bonaventure, the City of Bonaventure and the organization Mission Rivière was formed this winter.

The entity, called to become a non-profit organization, proposed to temporarily manage the site so that it could open during the summer of 2022. A legal dispute between Camp Bonaventure and Le Malin is in fact compromising the tourist season.

The tripartite committee explained, earlier this week, to have withdrawn from the ongoing proceedings in the face of the Evil One’s refusal to collaborate. According to him, the company did not agree to hand over the management of its parking lot.

We find it deplorable that some accuse the owners of Le Malin of not being part of the solution. It’s bad faithcan we however read in the press release sent to the media on Tuesday by Le Malin.

The company denounces the lack of good faith and transparency of the partners, who according to it, deprive bathers of access to the site. However, she mentions that she is always open to exploiting it, adding that she remains hopeful that Camp Bonaventure is inclined to find a long-term solution.

An error at the origin of a misunderstanding?

Contacted by Radio-Canada, the president of Mission Rivière, Pascal Henry, judges the current misunderstanding terribly unhappy. He claims to have made a mistake during the meeting to which Le Malin refers in his press release.

What we were trying to get that day was for Le Malin to agree to hand over their infrastructure to us, since they were subject to an injunction and could not legally [les] operateexplains Mr. Henry.

However, he explains that he mentioned the possibility, conditional on the acceptance of Camp Bonaventure, that a partnership be concluded. Le Malin would continue to operate its own infrastructure, while the newly formed organization would manage the beach.

However, this possibility was not viable for the summer of 2022, according to the committee. Brought to order by the mayor of Bonaventure, Mr. Henry claims to have apologized for his blunder and to have corrected the situation. He would nevertheless have been taken at his word, according to him, by the managers of the Malin.

I am accused on social networks of having lied, of having made a proposal that they hastened to accept. What you need to know is that it was never a proposal. It was a discussion. »

A quote from Pascal Henry, president of Missions Rivière

Just like Mr. Henry, the mayor of Bonaventure, Roch Audet, persists and signs: Le Malin did indeed refuse the committee’s final proposal, even though it was accepted by Camp Bonaventure.

For us, our work was done according to the rules of the art. If this work is questioned, it belongs to them. We, as a committee, are very comfortable with the steps we have taken with them. »
